BRING THE KIDS

The KinderShuttle makes cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter exploring possible with little kids along for the ride.

Warm, secure, and comfortable behind you, the KinderShuttle was purpose-built as a true child pulk — not adapted from a bike trailer.

SKIS LIKE A PULK SHOULD

Low, stable, and designed to follow your line.

The KinderShuttle glides naturally behind you without the wandering, fishtailing, or awkward pull of heavier converted trailers. Rigid chromoly tow poles provide control on turns, sidehills, and descents while preserving a natural skiing stride.

WARM + PROTECTED

Keep little passengers comfortable when the weather turns.

The enclosed canopy blocks wind and blowing snow, while the clear windscreen rolls away in milder weather. Upper ventilation maintains airflow and helps reduce condensation.

The padded seat and substantial XLPE hull also create separation from the cold snow underneath.

BUILT FOR REAL WINTER USE

The KinderShuttle isn't seasonal baby gear.

Its cross-linked polyethylene hull, chromoly steel structure, and durable canopy system are built for years of winter travel.

Many KinderShuttles stay in families for 10–15+ years and are passed from one child to the next.

“15 years, no failed hardware, no tears, no bad zippers.” ★★★★★
— Backcountry Ski Family

LOW + STABLE

Keeping the passenger low changes everything.

The KinderShuttle's low center of gravity makes it more stable on uneven trails and side slopes than higher-seated wheeled carriers adapted for skiing.

“Less likely to tip than the Chariot or Venice Cycle.”
— Rush Fam

MADE FOR GROWING FAMILIES

Infants

Integrated straps allow an appropriate infant car seat to be secured inside the sled.

Toddlers

A padded seat and five-point harness keep them secure while they ride, snack, read, or nap.

Bigger Kids

The five-point harness is rated up to 60 lb, giving the KinderShuttle years of useful life.

LIGHT ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY SKI

A child carrier isn't much fun if pulling it ruins the skiing.

The KinderShuttle is designed around efficient snow travel, keeping weight low and allowing the hull to glide rather than plow through the snow.

That makes it practical for groomed Nordic trails, snowshoe routes, rolling terrain, and uphill travel.

“I tried the Thule double Chariot, but it was SO heavy and wasn't great to skate with. The KinderShuttle is definitely the way to go.”

KINDERSHUTTLE VS. A CONVERTED BIKE TRAILER

KinderShuttle

• Low center of gravity
• Purpose-built for snow
• Lightweight pulk construction
• Smooth-gliding sled hull
• Rigid tow poles for control
• Natural skiing stride
• Designed for years of winter use

Converted Bike Trailer

• Higher passenger position
• More weight to pull
• Larger frontal area and snow drag
• Originally designed around wheels
• More cumbersome on climbs and narrow trails

EXPEDITION-BRED CONSTRUCTION

The KinderShuttle uses the same fundamental material philosophy found throughout Wilderness Engineering's expedition pulks, adapted for carrying children.

XLPE Hull

Cross-linked polyethylene is tough, impact resistant, and remains flexible in extreme cold. It creates a durable sled body and a substantial barrier between your child and the snow.

Chromoly Tow System

Rigid chromoly steel poles keep the sled positioned behind you and provide positive control when turning or descending.

Structural Canopy Frame

The chromoly canopy frame maintains the shape of the passenger compartment and provides structure around the child.

Weather Canopy

An enclosed fabric canopy with a clear roll-away windscreen protects against wind and blowing snow while maintaining visibility.

ROOM FOR THE DAY

More than 2,000 cubic inches of storage gives you space for:

• Extra layers
• Blankets
• Snacks
• Diapers
• Water
• Toys
• Trail gear

When the day is over, the KinderShuttle breaks down to approximately 45" × 22" × 8" for transportation and storage.

COMPLETE SYSTEM

Everything you need to start exploring is included.

• XLPE sled hull
• Chromoly tow poles
• Adjustable waist harness
• Padded passenger seat
• Five-point harness rated to 60 lb
• Infant car-seat positioning straps

GET OUTSIDE AGAIN

Having little kids doesn't have to mean putting winter adventures on hold.

Load them up, clip in, and keep going.

KinderShuttle in Action

XLPE Sled Hull

Sled Hull Geometry

The sled hull was designed with advanced stability and traction. Engineered for maximum glide on flat and grip on sidehills and turns.

Seamless Hull Integrity

Our process yields a completely uniform wall profile, eliminating the stretched thin spots and failure points common in thermoformed hulls.

Chromoly Steel Poles

Built from high-grade 4130 chromoly steel. They weigh slightly more than aluminum alternatives, but the added strength and dependability are well worth it. If a pole is bent in the field, it can often be bent back into shape rather than failing outright.

Welded

Welded for a durable, dependable connection designed for years of hard use. The same class of steel is commonly used in roll cages and motorcycle frames.

Bent

The bend creates a yoke style pole system that improves sled handling, steering, and control while keeping the load centered behind the user.

Powder Coated

Our poles are finished with a baked-on powder coating for excellent resistance to chips, abrasion, and corrosion far more durable than ordinary paint.

Earlier this month my sons lead a group of 10 young men (and four dads) into the mountains of northwest Montana for a weekend of snow camping. This got me reminiscing back to the days our two Kindershuttles saved winter. My boys are 18 months apart. The first winter with two boys, I hooked the sleds together with a D-ring and quick-draw. I pulled them for hours across frozen lakes regardless of cold and wind. It kept me sane! We also went on grand ski adventures with my husband and I each pulling a sled. At times the big brother pulled the tandem sleds... until exhausted (also good for all of us).

The sleds worked great, the low center of gravity kept them from tipping. On the rare occasion we rolled a sled, the harness kept the boys safe (and giggling). We added insulation under the seat and leg area. It was lovely to hear their little voices behind me: singing, reading books, munching snacks. I always imaged we would repurpose the shuttles into pulks as the boys grew... but I could not resist passing them along to friends with little ones. No doubt, joining mom and dad on winter adventures (or simply morning walks/skis) has played a major role in making them the outdoors men they are today!

These boys are nordic racers and on the US Junior Ski Orienteering Team. They spend their summers working and volunteering in National Parks and Wilderness Areas. They sleep better in a tent than in the house. Oh I am thankful for all of that!

And of course I am thankful the winters Kindershuttle saved for my young family!

we have had a kinder shuttle for about 12 years. Our son had down syndrome and we first used it with the cover and the strapping system. As he grew older, he was stable enough to sit in the sled. He has low endurance. He wasn’t able to cross country ski with us for a long duration so the kinder shuttle was a great solution. We have used it hard-core for 12 years in Alaska. It’s extremely durable and well-made and goes well on all types of snow, including groomed or deeper snow and ungroomed trails.
We have tried other ski systems, including the fuel chariot and the Venice cycle, which is specifically for adults with disabilities and has a ski system. We like the kinder shuttle sled and poke the best because of the low center of gravity is more stable than either of those ski systems where your child sits higher up and are on skinny skis. We found the kinder shuttle sled is less likely to tip over and as mentioned above it goes better on all types of snow.
The sled has been extremely durable and has mentioned his lasted for 12 years with no problems until my husband ran over it with the snow plow. We just ordered a replacement sled and are extremely happy with the same quality construction as the original. I would highly recommend getting this for your child. It can grow with your child and has worked well for us with a child with disabilities. If you’re a debating about the expense, let me reassure you that it is worth every penny.

I have had our Kindershuttle for 8 years and I have really enjoyed pulling my kids in it through all our winter activities. It is much nicer to use on groomed ski trails verses single track snowshoes trails. My kids stay warm and dry in the kindershuttle. They can play with their toys, eat snacks, or even enjoy a nice nap. My oldest started riding it in 4-5 months old with the infant car seat placed in the kindershuttle. The kindershuttle breaks down easily to fit back in the car-totally doable with dogs and kids running amuck. The system is very nice on body mechanics as well-fits snug around the hips but doesn’t limit mobility. I have hiked snowshoed, classic and skate skied with it. I’m having a hard time thinking this will be my last year to use it with my youngest.

We love our kinder shuttle! The sled is easy to set up, transport, and pull. It easily fits in the back of our RAV4, even when it’s set up. Our one year old stays warm, safe, and happy tagging along on all our winter adventures with his car seat strapped securely into the sled.

Only used twice but pleased so far! The pulk is easy to pull on flat groomed trails, proved to be more work in shallow, ungroomed snow but still doable. We loaded my child up with blankets and a hot waterbottle and she was nice and toasty. The pulk up quickly and easily and fits into the trunk of my Toyota Matrix!

Backcountry Ski Family

We bought a Kindershuttle over 15 years ago, and it saw heavy use for the next couple of years of nordic and light backcountry touring while our kids were too little to start skiing on their own. What great times! More than just a super rugged sled to haul the kids around, the Kindershuttle kept our littles bundled up and happy on a day out in the snow. Good venting keeps the windows clear and the little ones from soggy chill. Better than a pack, it let us haul along all sorts of goodies and kit for a picnic in the mountains. Countless times setting it up, breaking it down and tossing it in the truck to go again: no failed hardware, no tears, no bad zippers, and the PVC stayed clear. Thanks for building a fantastic product!

We LOVE our Kindershuttle! It is so easy to ski with (both skate and classic) while pulling kids. I have even pulled two kiddos in it (one wasn’t buckled so wouldn’t recommend two if super hilly) and it was easy to do pull. Makes getting out on skis possible with little kids! The kids stay warm with the weather cover, and my kids have had some great naps in it while being towed. I have also tried the Thule double chariot, but the Thule was SO heavy it wasn’t possible to pull up a small hill (at least for a smaller sized female) and the Thule wasn’t great to skate with (I didn’t get any glide). The Kindershuttle is definitely the way to go with kids to spark their love of skiing from a young age!
